Hi, my name is Kim.

I believe some of the most meaningful healing begins when we finally have a place where we can tell the truth about what we've experienced—without fear of judgment, pressure, or having someone rush to give us easy answers.

Background & Experience

My path to this work has taken me through education, ministry leadership, pastoral care, and years of studying the ways faith can both support healing and, at times, become entangled with harm.

Over the years, I have walked alongside individuals navigating grief, anxiety, difficult life transitions, questions of faith, and painful experiences within religious communities. That work has shaped my belief that people need space to tell their stories honestly—without judgment, pressure, or easy answers.

I have a particular interest in spiritual abuse and religious trauma, including the effects of high-control religious environments, harmful uses of spiritual authority, and experiences that can leave people struggling with trust, identity, faith, and their understanding of God. My doctoral research has allowed me to explore these issues in depth and continues to inform the care I offer at Safe Harbor.

My approach brings together pastoral care, theological education, counseling training, and a deep respect for each person's individual story and beliefs.

My Approach

I believe counseling should be grounded in compassion, honesty, emotional safety, and respect for each person’s story. Faith integration is available for clients who desire it, but people never need to have everything figured out spiritually in order to be welcomed here.

Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, especially when past experiences have made honesty feel unsafe. My hope is to offer a space where people feel heard, respected, and supported as they move toward healing with grace and hope.
